JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position works in the Community Art Programs organizational unit. This is cultural programming and supervisory work involved in researching and assessing community needs and interests, and in designing, developing, coordinating and scheduling community public art programs or projects in the area of Public Art city-wide.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement, supervise, and evaluate programs.
Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise program staff.
Establish and maintain liaison with cultural communities, organizations and agencies, schools, and the general public.
Publicize and promote services and programs.
Assist in the implementation of temporary or permanent public art initiatives.
Prepare recommendations for preliminary budgets and monitor expenditures.
Process a variety of clerical and routine administrative duties.
Exercise considerable independence of judgment, action, and initiative within the limits of applicable policies and procedures.
Perform related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a two-year Community College program in Community Recreation or a related discipline such as Fine Art, plus sound related supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of organized community art, such as art creation, fabrication methods and/or materials, and community facilitation.
Ability to supervise, implement, and evaluate the provision of community public art projects to meet community needs and interests.
Ability to read engineering, architectural, and landscape plans to support new built forms.
Ability to hire, plan, assign, and supervise the work of program staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as staff, community groups, agencies, and the public.
Ability to develop community interest and involvement in programs or projects.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, reports, and correspondence such as project plans and promotional material.
Valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
A Police Information Check may be required for this position.
Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; shifts may vary between 8:00 am–6:00 pm, including occasional evenings and weekends.

REMUNERATION:
$5,491 – 5,719 – 5,957 – 6,200 – 6,460/month (2024 Rates)
