JOB DESCRIPTION:
Shadbolt Centre for the Arts has a unique opportunity to join the Ceramic Arts team. We are hiring a Fine Arts Leader to assist the Ceramic Arts Programmer with planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, events, and exhibitions. This role acts as a resource person for Ceramic Arts instructors and specialists, prepares promotional material, generates ideas to boost the profile of Ceramic Arts, prepares and maintains records and reports, tracks information, and works within the registration database. The position requires building strong working relationships with technicians, contract instructors, and facility staff. The Fine Arts Leader will also support the supervision of Fine Arts Instructors, assistants, and volunteers, providing evaluation and guidance as needed. Related work will be performed as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Ceramic Arts Programmer with planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, events, and exhibitions.

  • Act as a resource for Ceramic Arts instructors and specialists.

  • Prepare promotional material and generate ideas to increase the profile of Ceramic Arts.

  • Maintain records, reports, and registration database information.

  • Build strong working relationships with technicians, instructors, and facility staff.

  • Supervise Fine Arts Instructors, assistants, and volunteers, providing evaluation and guidance.

  • Perform related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a two-year Community College course in a Fine Arts specialty, including teaching courses and related instructional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in Ceramic Arts.

  • Sound knowledge of principles, practices, and materials associated with Ceramic Arts programming, including organizing and maintaining supplies, studio spaces, and specialized materials/equipment.

  • Understanding of community needs and interests, with the ability to develop and evaluate programs that serve the community.

  • Classroom management experience with diverse ages and skill ranges.

  • Valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.

REMUNERATION:
$31.97/hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
