Presentation House Theatre (PHT) is the North Shore’s professional theatre company, where ideas play and grow into quality performing arts for all ages. For more than 40 years, friends and strangers have gathered in this welcoming space to enjoy innovative programming and quality professional shows.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is funded by the United Way Work Experience Opportunities Grant and is restricted to people who face barriers to employment, as detailed in the qualifications section. Reporting to the Production Coordinator/Facilities Manager, the Production and Facilities Assistant will work closely with the Production Coordinator and Technical Liaison on technical support, theatre maintenance, and assist with facility upkeep and cleaning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist PHT staff in providing technical services including, but not limited to: load-ins, strikes, lighting hang and restore, theatre maintenance, and stage painting.

  • Assist with basic grounds maintenance and cleaning.

  • Assist with basic building organization and maintenance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Support

  • Receive training in technical theatre basics, such as lighting and sound board operation and rehearsal procedures.

  • Receive training in basic building and grounds maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Grant-Based Requirements

  • Must meet eligibility for the United Way Work Experience Opportunities Grant (BCEA, Disability Assistance, Hardship Assistance, Indigenous Assistance, Persons with Disabilities, or Persons with Persistent Multiple Barriers). Proof of eligibility required.

Position Requirements

  • Genuine interest in technical theatre, facilities, or stage management.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Task-oriented with initiative.

  • Comfortable with manual labour.

Accessibility Notes

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, and physically move and lift items for sustained periods.
