JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you passionate about violin and enjoy teaching a variety of ages? Join the City of Surrey’s Culture division and contribute to the innovation and growth of our arts community through your development and instruction of performing arts courses and camps.
Clayton Community Arts is hiring Performing Arts Program Instructors to develop and instruct violin lessons for our Fall 2025 season. Our violin instructors have the opportunity to teach classes to preschool, children, youth, and adult participants throughout the year and to participate in hands-on outreach community activities across Surrey.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Submit detailed lesson plans and supply lists for each class, camp, or workshop.
Set up and clean up each class.
Teach private violin lessons.
Provide a safe and fun environment for all students.
Assess age appropriateness of lessons and materials, modifying as needed based on students’ abilities.
Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with participants and staff.
Solve problems effectively and work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree/diploma in Music, Performance, or a related field.
Certified RCM Instructor, having completed a minimum of Level 10 RCM Education.
Minimum of 2 years of previous teaching experience and a thorough understanding of musical pedagogy.
Current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C certificate.
Strong classroom management skills and demonstrated knowledge and experience in violin instruction and music education.
