Job Title:

Museum Education Assistant

Organization:

Museum of Anthropology

Deadline:

Apr. 26, 2026

Organization Description:

Vision: Connecting people and inspiring actions for a better world.

Mission: The Museum of Anthropology at UBC is a place for all. We are committed to:
• caring for tangible and intangible cultural heritage;
• engaging in meaningful relationships with Indigenous and other communities to redress colonial histories, take action and forge new paths, together;
• creating thought-provoking, enriching and accessible experiences;
• fostering opportunities for all people to learn about worldwide cultures;
• strengthening local and global community connections to cultural heritage, and;
• transforming museum practice.

The Museum of Anthropology at UBC is located on the ancestral, unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) peoples. Ongoing relationships with the Musqueam and with other Indigenous and originating communities are foundational to MOA’s practice.

We acknowledge the colonial frameworks of the institution. We are committed to engaging in challenging conversations with Indigenous and other communities who experience the harms of colonialism in museum practice, and with the wide range of the public who engage with MOA and are at different points in learning about and working toward decolonial practices. With that in mind, we work to be self-critical and aim to overcome the dangers of reinforcing and preferencing dominant social, cultural and historical narratives in our museum work.
