Job Description:
The Program Coordinator is a training position for someone with a passion for the performing arts, and who has some experience with event and program support. Overview of tasks: Support Opera Kelowna's community event and education programming from June - August 2026, with emphasis on the Valley Opera Summer Intensive, a three-week Emerging Artist Training Program, which supports post-secondary and early career opera artists in professionalizing their performance and communications skills, and Sidewalk Serenades, a program offering free pop-up concerts to Older Adults in extended healthcare settings.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the daily schedule, classes, events, and performances of the Valley Opera Summer Intensive program alongside the Artistic Director
- Act as venue liaison for Valley Opera Summer Intensive, ensuring instructors, participants, and partners are all clear on scheduling and access needs
- Ensure all documentation regarding VOSI program is accurate, stored appropriately in Google drive folders, and shared as needed with other team members

- Manage the housing move-in and move-out for all participants and instructors in the VOSI program
- Assist team members with load in and load out of production and other community events or marketing efforts as needed
- Complete post-program reports, highlighting key takeaways, participant experience, and opportunities for future program growth and development
- Help design and deliver patron experience opportunities during mainstage performance of The Marriage of Figaro (Aug 28 and 29, 2026), including pre-show and post-show community celebrations
- This position requires punctuality and on-time arrival at all rehearsals, performances and events
- Learn and work within Opera Kelowna’s Neurodiversity protocols
Qualifications:
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Strong teamwork skills
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- An affinity for the performing arts
- Experience in coordinating programs or events is an asset
