monument to the people involved in BC’s fishing industry. The National Historic Site is operated by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, a non-profit society. Collaborating with Parks Canada, the Society preserves Canada’s West Coast fishing history and presents it in an engaging and relevant way.

Job Description:

We are seeking an outgoing and independent individual to support our Senior Operations
Manager to support our retail operation, the Cannery Gift Shop. Our team and working

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Gift Shop clerk will be responsible for greeting
and assisting customers, making sales suggestions to them, maintaining the appearance of the
store and ringing in sales transactions. This position also works very closely with the
interpretive team at the Cannery and volunteers in the store.

Specific tasks and duties assigned to the Gift Shop Clerk will include:
 Serve customers by developing rapport, building customer confidence, providing
accurate product information, and helping with product selection
 Demonstrate knowledge of products and inventory to ensure customer satisfaction
 Maintain a clean and orderly retail space that is appealing to shoppers
 Perform all required cash register transactions efficiently and accurately
 Contribute to store profitability by receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing
incoming product flow
 Provide excellent customer service by responding to customer questions or issues
regarding product features and benefits
 Assist in inventory management tasks, including receiving shipments, conducting stock
counts, and reporting low stock or product discrepancies to management.
 Supporting loss prevention efforts by monitoring the sales floor and reporting suspicious
activity to a manger or supervisor
 Assist in resolving customer complaints

 You have exceptional attention to detail.
 You work well within teams of volunteers and paid staff.
Skills and Experience:
 Previous retail experience
 Proficient in Point-of-Sale system and credit card processing systems
 Experience in delivering exceptional customer service
 Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second language would be beneficial.

Remuneration:

$19.50 per hour @ 7 hours per day for 5 days a week plus 6% in lieu of vacation and benefits.

Comprehensive training will be provided by the employer along with 1:1 mentorship provided by the Senior Operations Manager
