Job Description:
Our Community Services Department is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Program Leader to support the City’s Cultural Service programs throughout the summer! We are looking for candidates who can interface with the public, working to facilitate the Paint in the Park and Music in the Streets programs from June to August. Additionally, this role will support work on various City-owned Collections, including the Riverview Hospital Artifact Collection and the Public Art Collection. Experience working in the cultural sector is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
Program Leaders will be have a leadership responsibility for planning, implementing, supervising, and leading a variety of cultural activities for children, youth, and adults. They will provide guidance to volunteers on their program duties and will be responsible for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities. Duties are performed within established guidelines but some independent action and initiative is exercised in leading and instructing assigned programs.
Qualifications:
Our next Cultural Services Program Leader must have completed high school, and have some related experience, preferably in Municipal cultural work. Candidates will also require some supervisory experience. Please note that an equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered. Candidates must also possess a St. John's First Aid Certificate (SOFA) or equivalent.
We accept first aid certifications issued by the following training providers:
- Lifesaving Society
- St John’s Ambulance
- Red Cross
At the time of application you will be required to upload and submit a copy of your valid and up to date First Aid and CPR certification as a Supporting Document. If you are in the process of obtaining your certification, it must be submitted before your hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the creative sector
- Knowledge of common artistic media
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a car
- Experience in Collections Management or Heritage

Remuneration:
$26.10 - $30.51 plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
