The Capilano Review Contemporary Arts Society is the publisher of The Capilano Review, a biannual arts and literary publication. Each issue features full-colour art sections and artists’ projects, poetry, fiction, essays, interviews, and reviews. In addition to publishing two print and digital issues of the magazine each year, The Capilano Review also hosts an annual Writer-in-Residence, thematic writing contests, and numerous workshops, readings, and other events. The organization also offers paid internship opportunities.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
The Board of The Capilano Review Arts Society, publisher of The Capilano Review, is seeking a Treasurer to oversee the organization's finances, including: budget projections; advice to the staff and Board on financial matters (e.g., on expected surplus or deficits); advice where necessary on financial strategies such as long-term investments, streamlining of financial systems, etc.; and presentation of the completed fiscal year statements at the Annual General Meeting.
The Capilano Review offers a welcoming and thoughtful space for the work of established and emerging writers and artists from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. Joining TCR’s Board offers candidates an opportunity to directly and actively support the local arts and writing community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide financial oversight and guidance, working alongside a professional bookkeeper and accountant
Offer strategic advice to staff and the Board on financial matters
Present completed fiscal year statements at the AGM
Attend quarterly Board meetings (additional meetings may occasionally arise)
Serve a renewable three-year term
QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with The Capilano Review or interest in the arts
Proficiency in finance and bookkeeping
