Job Description:
As a Volunteer Experience & Retail Assistant, Junior Officer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment that values collaboration, creativity, and community engagement. You will be responsible for supporting volunteer engagement initiatives, as well as assisting with retail operations during performances and events.

During your shifts, your time will be filled with fun and varied tasks, and you will have the opportunity to engage with staff and volunteers. With a focus on customer service, you will be working with our volunteers and gift shop. Moreover, Volunteer Experience & Retail Assistant, Junior Officers cross-train within all Guest Experience functions.

Responsibilities:
Create the ultimate volunteer experience:

  • Provide excellent customer service that adheres to the volunteers’ experience goals, standards, and absolutes

  • Politely and professionally respond to questions from volunteers about shifts and day-of tasks for VSO shows

  • Facilitate a positive volunteer experience through training and building strong relationships with volunteers

Positively represent the Vancouver Symphony through great service and organizational skill in the Gift Shop by:

  • Overseeing and collaborating with Gift Shop volunteers during VSO shows

  • Ensuring popular items are in stock and coordinating inventory

  • Delivering exceptional customer experiences to all shoppers and providing training to volunteers

  • Ensuring attractive visual merchandising of items

  • Conducting annual inventory count before fiscal year end

Lottery:

  • Support the operations of lottery programs and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements

  • Monitor and analyze lottery performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and enhance operational efficiency

  • Ensure that all lottery activities are conducted in a fair, transparent, and ethical manner

  • Prepare and present detailed reports on lottery performance

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration or a relevant field, or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proven experience in customer service or retail settings is preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with volunteers and customers

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing individual responsibilities

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings

Remuneration:
$24 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
