Adbusters Magazine is the people’s bi-monthly journal of the mental environment.

But we’re so much more than a magazine.

We’re a global collective of writers, artists, designers, musicians, poets, philosophers, and punks.

Since 1989 we’ve been smashing ads, fighting corruption, and speaking truth to power. We’re trying to forge a new way of living, create a whole new cultural vibe to escape the capitalist paradigm, and halt humanity’s slide into a 10,000-year dark age.

From Buy Nothing Day to Occupy Wall Street, we’ve been at the helm of our era’s defining tone-shifting moments. We’re the creators of the world’s most ethical shoes and a design manifesto that shocked many creative people to their core.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Adbusters is looking for a shit-hot wordsmith who can take all our revolutionary ideas and make them come alive in our magazine, on our socials, and in our email blasts.

Send us your best piece or surprise us with something unexpected.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translate bold, anti-establishment ideas into sharp, compelling copy for print, digital, social, and email campaigns.

  • Write and edit original, provocative content that challenges dominant narratives and sparks cultural conversation.

  • Collaborate with editors, designers, and campaign leads to bring revolutionary concepts to life across platforms.

  • Maintain a distinctive, fearless editorial voice aligned with Adbusters’ ethos and aesthetic.

  • Experiment with format, tone, and storytelling approaches to surprise, disrupt, and engage audiences.

  • Contribute ideas proactively, shaping campaigns and content beyond assigned briefs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a distinctive, confident voice.

  • Proven ability to craft compelling copy across print, social media, and email platforms.

  • Strong editorial instincts and comfort pushing boundaries without losing clarity or purpose.

  • Deep interest in culture, media criticism, and anti-consumerist or countercultural movements.
