Arts On (the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Arts Council) provides opportunities for arts education for all ages, professional performing arts activities and support of artistic community initiatives across the Ridge Meadows region. The organization has been serving the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows since 1971.
Arts On Learning Programs, taking place in locations across the Ridge-Meadows region, include instruction and learning activities in the visual arts - painting, drawing, textile and fibre arts, ceramics and digital media - and in the performing arts of theatre, dance, and music. Learning programs are offered for a wide range of ages, from infants to seniors.

Job Description:
Arts On is currently seeking contract instructors who are passionate about fine arts and arts education for children, to design and deliver summer visual arts programming for children and youth. The instructors will in artistic disciplines of painting, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, collage, and other mixed media. Programming takes place at local SD42 schools.
Responsibilities:
Developing and delivering high-quality Visual Arts programming for preschool & school-aged children, instructing a wide variety of mediums & techniques
Transporting program supplies to and from each teaching location, as supported by Arts On staff
Preparing each teaching space with necessary tools and materials before students arrive as necessary, and ensuring thorough cleanup afterward
Actively monitoring student progress, and providing constructive feedback and encouragement to support students’ artistic and skill development through clear, positive communication
Maintaining clear and responsive communication with Arts On staff
Demonstrating professionalism, punctuality, and a strong commitment to student success and program excellence
Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education in Visual Arts and/or Early Childhood Education, or equivalent training and experience
Minimum three years’ experience and proven track record as a dedicated teacher/instructor, working with young students of various ages and abilities
Classroom management expertise – a high degree of independence and self-sufficiency is required for teaching all programs
Availability to work a varied schedule (half/full days)
Reliable transportation, and ability to transport program supplies, to selected locations around Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge
Interest and enthusiasm for the wide range of Arts On Learning programs
Valid First Aid & CPR certificate an asset
Must submit to a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check

Remuneration:
$38 - $40/hourly
