Festival Accessibility Coordinator
Hours: Anticipated 120-140 hours between September-October, with full-time hours during Festival week (Oct 19-25)
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Accessibility Coordinator plans and implements accessibility efforts across Festival events. The Accessibility Coordinator provides cross-department support to ensure that Festival operations and communications meet the diverse accessibility needs of Writers Fest’s patrons, authors, volunteers, and staff. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, collaborative, compassionate, and can problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate accessibility training for volunteers, contracting facilitators and preparing materials where needed.
Ensure that venue accessibility information is up to date and accurate.
Develop a sensory map of festival venues, possibly with volunteer support.
With the Festival Operations and Production teams, coordinate events with ASL interpretation and CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation).
Support the Volunteer Operations, Programming, and Festival Operations teams in responding to accessibility requests from volunteers, authors, and patrons respectively.
Perform venue checks and support any on-site accessibility needs.
Review daily audience feedback forms and track accessibility-related feedback from patrons.
Qualifications:
Ideal Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience working on live and/or digital events (working on event accessibility and/or digital accessibility is an asset).
Demonstrated experience in customer service and in creating a welcoming, inclusive space.
Lived experience with disability and/or experience working within a disability community is a strong asset.
Experience coordinating volunteers and/or contractors to work on a project.
Can adjust methods of communication and create an individualized approach to collaborative projects.
Clear communication skills in writing and in conversation.
Can stay organized and accurate in a time-sensitive and fast-moving environment while also being flexible and comfortable with new projects.
An interest in the arts and a desire to learn more about Disability Justice in the arts.

Remuneration:
Compensation: $27-$30 per hour commensurate with experience
