Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Piano Instructor to teach both private piano lessons for all ages and small group beginner piano classes for children on Saturdays and Sundays. The successful candidate will be passionate about music education, enjoy working with young learners, and be able to create a welcoming, encouraging, and structured learning environment.
This role includes teaching private students of varying ages and skill levels, as well as leading small group classes of up to 5 students through our beginner piano programs: Piano Basics Level 1 and Piano Basics Level 2. Classes run on weekly on Saturdays and Sundays from September – June.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include preparing age-appropriate lesson plans, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs, encouraging students’ confidence and creativity, communicating professionally with families and staff, and maintaining a safe, organized, and respectful teaching space.
Qualifications:
An ARCT diploma, university degree in music or equivalent, as well as a minimum of 100 hours of teaching experience as a music instructor, preferably with children/youth. First aid certificate (First aid + CPR-C) is a condition of employment for all City of Burnaby instructors.
