JOB DESCRIPTION:
The CPB Monthly Services Lead is responsible for delivering core bookkeeping and reporting services to nonprofit clients after their first year of project work. This role ensures the quality of monthly service deliveries, provides guidance to technician bookkeepers, manages assigned client files, and serves as the main contact for finance reviews and client queries.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting nonprofit leaders through approachable and empowering financial consulting. You enjoy systems, processes, and precision but also excel at clear, friendly communication.
Applicants should be experienced bookkeepers or nonprofit operations managers ready to deepen their financial expertise. Chickadee provides comprehensive training and flexibility for the right candidate. Please note this is not a CPA-track role; CPB certification is required by month three.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver full-cycle bookkeeping, reconciliation, reporting, and client communication for ongoing nonprofit clients.
Prepare year-end files and liaise with CPAs or Treasurers.
Supervise technician bookkeepers and handle task management for assigned files.
Manage monthly planning, service tracking, and communication for invoicing.
Prepare and submit compliance filings (e.g., GST Rebate, T3010, Worksafe).
Lead or delegate payroll processing for clients as needed.
Host monthly client finance review and technical calls.
Maintain high-quality SOPs, spreadsheets, and bookkeeping standards.
Collaborate with team Leads and the Controller on complex files.
Support add-on projects such as budgets, forecasts, and accounting design.
Participate in staff development and knowledge-sharing across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) with CPB Canada (by month three).
Certificate or diploma from a bookkeeping program.
Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills (formulas, pivot tables, data validation).
Proficiency with Google Drive and G Suite applications.
Strong bookkeeping expertise including multi-entity tracking, allocations, and payroll.
Ability to teach, mentor, and conduct file reviews with technician bookkeepers.
Strong client communication and advisory skills (Controller 1 & 2 level).
Commitment to continuous learning and team collaboration.
