The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCCGV) is seeking an experienced, passionate, and visionary Manager to lead our vibrant and well-established performing arts program. The Manager will oversee dance, music, and theatre programs for all ages, ensuring high-quality instruction and meaningful cultural experiences rooted in community, creativity, and Jewish values.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The role includes coordinating the performing arts classes for 300 participants (with the goal to grow our program), producing and directing year-end performances (and competitions as applicable), and supervising all instructors and production team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership & Development

  • Lead, develop, and manage performing arts programming including group classes, private lessons, seasonal productions, workshops, and performances.

  • Expand offerings that reflect the diversity of the community and support the mission of the JCC.

  • Ensure high-quality programming that is inclusive, age-appropriate, and aligned with the interests and needs of the community—from early childhood to adults.

  • Collaboratively develop a vision for the school of performing arts, according to the expectations and aspirations of our participants and the realities of our market.

Staff Management & Instruction

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and support a team of qualified instructors across disciplines.

  • Occasionally teach or direct programs, rehearsals, or performances as needed.

  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for instructors and assistants.

Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Manage year-round scheduling, class registration, performance calendars, and facility usage in coordination with JCC departments.

  • Develop and manage annual program budgets, including tuition pricing, instructor payroll, and production expenses.

  • Plan, direct and execute year-end performances (dance, Israeli Dance, and music).

  • Organize and manage registration and participation in competitions, workshops, and shows (including outside Greater Vancouver).

  • Procure costumes, equipment, materials, and supplies.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that reflects Jewish values and community-building.

  • Create and manage publicity (collaborating as needed), including distributing print and digital materials to community organizations, schools, and retail locations.

  • Collaborate with other JCC departments and external partners/programs on cross-programming and special events.

  • Facilitate ongoing communication with participants and parents/guardians (includes schedule changes, upcoming events, individual needs and progress, etc.).

  • Serve as a cultural ambassador for the JCC’s performing arts vision within the broader community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Education, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (studio management, arts education, program management, artistic direction, etc.).

  • Deep knowledge and passion for dance, music, and/or theatre, with an ability to support all three areas.

  • Up-to-date on the trends in performing arts programs and arts events in Vancouver.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience managing staff and coordinating multiple programs simultaneously.

  • Customer service oriented with experience facilitating communication with youth and parents.

  • Ability to multitask with ease.

  • A team player, eager to collaborate on JCC-wide programming.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and Jewish community values.

  • Schedule flexibility (available some evenings and weekends for programs and events).

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with Jewish cultural arts and/or experience working in a Jewish communal setting.

  • Experience with ticketing platforms, registration software, and budget management tools.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week, with benefits. Monday–Thursday + either Sunday or Friday (Evenings and weekends are occasionally required).

  • The successful candidate will need to clear a criminal record check for working with vulnerable persons as a condition of employment.
