The North Vancouver Recreation + Culture (NVRC) Commission was established in 1970 as a partnership between the City of North Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver. NVRC provides recreation and arts/cultural services, activities and events on behalf of the City and District. NVRC operates nine community centres, the North Vancouver Tennis Centre, and Centennial Theatre, the North Shore’s largest performing arts theatre.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Recreation + Culture, the Manager of Arts and Culture (the Manager) plays a central leadership role in shaping and delivering local arts and culture services. This position leads a dynamic portfolio that includes public art initiatives, arts and cultural grant programs, support for community arts organizations, planning and delivery of local events, and the stewardship of arts and culture strategies. The Manager oversees the operations and programming of Centennial Theatre, ensuring it continues to serve as a vibrant, inclusive space for creative expression and community connection. This position is integral to the stewardship of NVRC’s efforts to foster a thriving, inclusive, and accessible arts ecosystem, ensuring alignment with broader civic priorities and community values.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for an experienced arts and culture leader who brings a deep understanding and passion for community engagement and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the development and delivery of local government arts and culture programs. As a strategist and relationship builder, the preferred candidate will leverage a deep understanding of cultural planning and community engagement as well as bring vision, energy, and clarity to a portfolio that spans both strategic oversight and operational execution.

This is a full-time management position working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate may be required to work evenings and weekends. The salary for this position is $116,852 to $129,492 (2024 rates).
