JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Hospitality and Business Development Manager, the Custodian is responsible for cleaning all spaces under the management of The Cultch at 1895 Venables St (The Cultch, including administration offices, the Historic Theatre, and the Vancity Culture Lab), 639 Commercial Drive (The York Theatre), and 1885 Venables St (The Green House Studio).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleaning audience areas, including but not limited to floors and waste collection

  • Cleaning dressing rooms, including bathrooms, green rooms, and showers

  • Cleaning administrative office, including surfaces, bathroom, and kitchen

  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming of floors

  • Laundering of facility linens

  • Empty garbage, recycling, and compost

  • Manage city garbage bin collection

  • Restock cleaning supplies

  • Empty and clean dishwashers

  • Work with multiple departments, including production, front of house, and bar to maintain cleanliness based on event schedule and needs

  • Regular deep cleans, including high and low cleaning as required

  • In tandem with the Production Department, allow access to facility maintenance-related companies as needed (such as waste collection, pest control, etc.)

  • Support updating of annual cleaning schedule as needed

  • Communicate clearly and effectively in a timely manner

  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in commercial cleaning, individually or with a team

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision

  • Close attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize commitments in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

  • Commitment to working to The Cultch’s values and ethos, including an ongoing practice in cultural competency

  • Basic computer skills, including experience using Google Workspace and Slack internal messaging platform (an asset)

  • Experience working in an arts or non-profit environment (an asset)

  • A valid driver’s license (an asset)

  • Ability to work in person is required

REMUNERATION:
$26.00 per hour, plus 4% holiday pay
