JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an experienced picture framer to join our team. This is a lead framer position, so ideally, applicants will have a solid framing background. We may also consider offering training to candidates with a transferable skill set and strong interest. Ultimately, we are looking for someone to eventually take on management responsibilities. Full-time with an immediate start is preferred. If you think you are the right fit, we look forward to meeting you!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full circle framing responsibilities including client consultations, project costing, and framing
General framing duties including mat cutting, glass cutting, frame assembly, canvas stretching, object framing, and custom projects
Ordering materials and supplies
Liaising with suppliers and keeping up to date on products and services
Supervising and training studio assistants
General studio organization and cleaning
Occasionally assisting with other in-studio or on-site services
QUALIFICATIONS:
Solid knowledge of different framing techniques, styles, and products
Strong communication skills, able to work with a varied client base and studio team
Excellent visual and manual skills
Proficient in using tools
Strong familiarity with imperial measurements
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Ability to work independently and run all areas of the framing department
Capacity to work quickly and efficiently with proper art handling awareness
Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
Basic computer skills
Basic printing knowledge an asset
Fine art background an asset
