The Arts Club Theatre Company is Canada’s largest year-round not-for-profit theatre company. The Arts Club offers the best in professional theatre and has staged over 650 productions. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for processing weekly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with union requirements and tax regulations, as well as maintaining accurate records and answering employee questions. The successful candidate will have knowledge of full-cycle payroll processes, extensive experience with Excel, good judgment, and high attention to detail. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while multitasking and meeting deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process weekly payroll, including inputting timesheets and entering employee information into the payroll system.
Administer terminations and issue records of employment.
Process annual T4s and T4As in accordance with CRA regulations.
Administer union deductions, remittances, and benefits updates.
Reconcile company benefits monthly to ensure accuracy and timeliness of employee changes.
Respond to inquiries from employees, government agencies, and other organizations regarding work history and earnings.
Create, file, and maintain documentation related to payroll and benefits processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and diplomacy.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.
Proficient in data entry, spreadsheets, and payroll software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships.
Minimum of two years of progressive payroll and benefits experience in a unionized environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, with the ability to learn new applications.
Completion of the Canadian Payroll Association's Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
Experience with Payworks software considered an asset.
Experience with accounting software such as Sage 50 is recommended but not required.

REMUNERATION:
$25–$29 per hour for 24 hours per week. Permanent part-time (Monday to Wednesday). Includes extended health and dental benefits, life and disability insurance, paid sick and personal days, vacation pay, complimentary show tickets, and staff discounts.
