Associate Director

ORGANIZATION:
Victoria Chinatown Museum Society

DEADLINE:
Nov. 30, 2025

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
The Victoria Chinatown Museum Society (VCMS) is a non-profit society whose purpose is to share the history, traditions, and culture of early Chinese Canadians in Victoria. The organization is passionate about sharing the stories of Chinese Canadians through the lens of Victoria’s Chinatown—the oldest surviving Chinatown in Canada.

The VCMS operates the Victoria Chinatown Museum, which features a permanent collection of images and artifacts, rotating collections, pop-up exhibits, educational programming, and special events. The stories highlighted at the museum reflect the resilience and ongoing contributions of Chinese Canadians across generations.

In early 2020, the Victoria Chinatown Museum Society was formed to honour the history, culture, and contributions of Chinese Canadians. In October 2024, the VCMS assumed responsibility for the Chinese Canadian Museum in Fan Tan Alley, located in Victoria’s Chinatown, and renamed it the Victoria Chinatown Museum. The museum has attracted over 100,000 visitors since opening in 2022 and occupies approximately 1,500 square feet of space. The museum has approximately 50 volunteers, coordinated by the Visitor Experience Manager.
