The archival collection includes documents, photographs, and oral histories recounting Jewish life in BC, forming the foundation for innovative public programming, exhibits, and publications that celebrate and build awareness of this history. The JMABC serves as an ambassador of the Jewish community, fostering understanding both within the community and with other cultural groups in BC. The organization strives for a just and vibrant society by enhancing awareness of Jewish history as a vital component of the province’s diverse cultural fabric. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Jewish Museum and Archives of British Columbia seeks a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth. Reporting to the volunteer Board, the Executive Director is responsible for shaping strategic direction, enhancing community engagement, and expanding the organization’s reach across BC. Supported by Directors of Archives, Programming, and Operations, the Executive Director will directly oversee Development and Fundraising, ensuring strong community partnerships and sustainable funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Direct all aspects of fundraising strategy, including donor cultivation and grant development.
• Support the Director of Programming in planning, executing, and evaluating programs that reflect BC’s Jewish community history, values, and traditions.
• Provide leadership to the Director of Archives in managing archival collections and historical materials.
• Oversee communications and public engagement to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and brand identity.
• Support the Director of Operations in organizational management, including finance, HR, and strategic planning.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to uphold governance and organizational alignment with the strategic vision.
• Represent the organization publicly and strengthen partnerships across the community.
• Attend evening and weekend events as required; travel within BC for outreach activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within a non-profit or cultural organization, preferably in the Jewish community.
• Proven expertise in fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing.
• Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, history, and traditions.
• Experience developing, managing, and evaluating programs.
• Familiarity with archives, collections management, or cultural preservation.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong financial management and budgeting abilities.
• Collaborative leadership style with proven success working with boards and community stakeholders.
Preferred:
• Experience working with BC-based non-profit boards.
• Knowledge of Canadian and BC arts, culture, and heritage funding environments.
• Familiarity with Jewish archival collections and digitization tools.
• Hebrew language skills are an asset.

REMUNERATION:
$90,000–$110,000 annually, based on experience, plus benefits.
