JOB DESCRIPTION:
As Operational & Producing Assistant, you will support Aphotic Theatre’s operational needs and producing tasks. Hours may fluctuate week-to-week depending on the current slate and productions, averaging around 10 hours per week. The position includes a combination of in-person and remote work. Applicants must be based in or around Vancouver, BC.

Between January and September 2026, Aphotic’s slate consists of three projects: two projects in development/workshopping phases, and one co-production.

Applications are encouraged from women, genderqueer/nonbinary people, trans people, and/or people of colour of all backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage contracts and letters of agreement; liaise with unions and the Artistic Director when needed.

  • Maintain and adjust production budgets.

  • Process and track contractor payments, invoices, deposits, and other financial paperwork.

  • Liaise with the bookkeeper on payroll and financial filings.

  • Maintain and update the Aphotic Theatre website.

  • Oversee social media and basic marketing tasks.

  • Liaise with presenting venues on box office and ticketing.

  • Manage the back-end of the digital box office (as needed).

  • Support grant writing, fundraising, and reporting.

  • Attend board meetings.

  • Update policy documents as required.

  • Schedule meetings (Zoom and in-person) and send reminders.

  • Manage Google Calendar, including timelines, grant deadlines, and meetings.

  • Complete WorkSafeBC, BC Societies, CRA, insurance, Vancity, and CADAC filings.

  • Support the Year-End Review engagement with the Artistic Director and bookkeeper.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No specific qualifications required.

  • Experience in marketing and/or producing is an asset.
