Shadbolt in Your Community offers satellite fine arts programs in SD41 elementary schools, community centres, Burnaby community events, and summer camps, providing opportunities to sample multi-discipline programs at a more accessible cost. These programs are inclusive, support freedom of expression, and give students the experience of working with arts specialists in a creative learning environment that supports community growth. Involvement in the arts fosters important skills developed through imagination, critical thinking, problem solving, social and emotional learning, self-confidence, self-discipline, and verbal and non-verbal communication.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Drama Instructor to teach drama and theatre arts to children ages 6–12. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, experience in theatre, and the ability to create a fun and supportive learning environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and lead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate drama and theatre games.
Introduce students to theatrical concepts such as improvisation, storytelling, character development, and performance techniques.
Teach a variety of drama programs at facilities across Burnaby and in elementary schools.
Adapt programming to suit the needs and interests of students primarily aged 6–12.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of, or enrollment in, a university or college-level drama program; a BFA or relevant experience will also be considered.
Strong teaching background and experience teaching drama to children ages 6–12.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to adapt to the needs and interests of students with varying skill levels.
High Five® certification is considered an asset.
Must have Emergency Level First Aid - CPR C or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program.
Background check and relevant certifications as required.
