The North Vancouver Community Arts Council (North Van Arts) is a grassroots, social-profit, charitable cultural organization dedicated to maximizing the intrinsic value of the arts in all media. Our mandate is to enable emerging and professional artists in all disciplines, to bridge cultures, and to build strong and healthy communities through the arts. We are a vibrant and dynamic organization of over 400 members with a proud history of serving the citizens of the North Shore and artists from throughout Metro Vancouver and beyond.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
About Camp Creative
Camp Creative offers weeklong creative experiences for children ages 6–11. Each week features a different artist instructor leading activities across visual arts, drama, writing, textiles arts, nature-based projects, and outdoor play. Camps nurture creativity, curiosity, and confidence in a small class setting (max 12 participants), supported by volunteers. In summer, Lead Instructors are supported by two assistants through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Lead Instructors may apply for one or multiple weeks. Full-week commitment (Monday–Friday) and completion of a Criminal Record Check are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and facilitate daily art and creative activities inspired by your own artistic practice.
• Manage and inspire a group of 12 children (ages 6–11) with support from volunteers.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Prepare and organize materials before each camp day.
• Support drop-off, lunch supervision, and pick-up coordination.
• Ensure daily setup and cleanup (30 minutes each).
• Complete weekly lesson planning (2 hours per week, paid).
• Participate in paid training and follow North Van Arts’ camp guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience teaching or leading art-based activities with children.
• Background in visual arts, theatre, writing, music, or multidisciplinary arts.
• Ability to manage a small group with energy, empathy, and creativity.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
• Located in Metro Vancouver; priority given to North Shore artists.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
• Valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada.
