JOB DESCRIPTION:
Contractor Teaching Services
Place des Arts is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified Dance Teacher with experience teaching children, youth, and adults starting in January 2026, with the intention of continuing and proposing classes for our 2026/2027 season. The candidate must be passionate about teaching and able to engage students of various ages and abilities. Contractor teachers will determine the curriculum and teaching methodology. Place des Arts coordinates studio space, scheduling, registration, and program promotions.

Applicants must be available to teach Adult Jazz for All Levels on Thursdays from 8:00–9:00 PM, from January 15 to March 5 and April 9 to June 11, 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain and provide a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector screening prior to providing teaching services.

  • Submit class proposals for consideration.

  • Work independently as a contractor within the Place des Arts structure and administrative support system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in dance, experience in the dance and performing arts industry, and/or equivalent training and work experience.

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience with students of various abilities in group classes.

  • Experience choreographing pieces for dance competitions and year-end recitals.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and staff.

  • Proficiency in teaching a range of ages and abilities.

  • Highly responsible and punctual.

  • Thoughtful, energetic, and passionate about teaching.

  • Eager to contribute to the vibrant Place des Arts community.

REMUNERATION:
Successful candidates will be engaged as independent contractors and earn fees based on student enrolment. Depending on enrolment levels, contractor teachers typically have the opportunity to earn between $30 and $65 per teaching hour(BC minimum wage: $17.85/hour).
