The ACT Arts Centre (The ACT), located in the heart of Maple Ridge, is the region’s leading provider of vibrant Arts Learning Programs, Gallery Exhibitions, and Performing Arts Presentations. Since opening in 2003, The ACT has welcomed over 80,000 patrons annually through its 486-seat theatre, art studios, classrooms, and public gallery spaces. The Arts Learning Programs offer instruction in visual arts—including painting, drawing, textile and fiber arts, ceramics, and digital media—as well as performing arts such as theatre, dance, and music. Programs serve participants from infants to seniors.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The ACT Arts Centre is seeking enthusiastic contract Guitar Instructors passionate about music and teaching. Instructors will design and deliver group classes and semi-private lessons for students of all ages and levels at The ACT. Additional opportunities may include teaching day camps, school groups, and participating in community events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and teach group and semi-private guitar classes for children and adults
Support students in achieving their musical goals through engaging and accessible instruction
Track student progress and provide constructive feedback
Prepare teaching space before classes and tidy afterward
Maintain consistent communication with internal staff
Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and care for student learning
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Music or Master of Fine Arts in Music (or equivalent experience/training)
Minimum 3 years’ teaching experience with students of various ages and skill levels
Familiarity with a variety of music education methods (e.g., RCM, Suzuki); able to teach standard notation and tablature
Availability during school holidays for week-long camps is an asset
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required
Multi-instrumentalists are encouraged to apply
