JOB DESCRIPTION:
Place des Arts is seeking an Education Assistant to support students in theatre classes and multi-disciplinary Pro-D Day and Spring Break Camps from Sept. 2025 to Mar. 2026, with the option to extend until Jun. 2026. This contract requires on-site work at Place des Arts on Saturdays, plus Pro-D Day Camps and Spring Break Camps.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with staff, teachers and volunteers to support students in classrooms and during transitions.
Provide verbal or written reports on student support to the Director of Programs and Program Managers.
Reinforce Place des Arts’ policy behaviour values.
Assist with safe student arrival and departure.
Reinforce health and safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion or in-progress Special Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma, or equivalent education/work experience.
Experience with children and/or teens with support needs or behavioural challenges.
Approachable, patient, caring, friendly, dependable, adaptable.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to assess situations and take appropriate action.
Ability to work collaboratively with different personalities.
Proficiency in a second language (French, Korean, Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese) is an asset.
Must have a Police Information Check with vulnerable sector screening by start date.
Must be legally able to work in BC.
Must be a BCEA recipient, on disability assistance, hardship assistance, PPMB, or qualified under a Treaty First Nation or First Nation Administering Authority income assistance program.

REMUNERATION:
As a United Way WEOG Position, participants receive a stipend. This is not a wage or salary. The stipend is set by the grant at $3,000 for 200 hours of work.
