Founded in 1973, Vancouver New Music engages communities in the exploration, creation, and experience of progressive and outstanding new music. VNM is dedicated to exploring and contextualizing new music and sonic art through concert presentations, festivals, community, and workshop events. VNM regularly commissions and premieres new works by Canadian composers, presents leading and emerging electroacoustic and electronic music artists, international composers and performers, sound installations, and music theatre. VNM presents an annual festival that focuses on a different theme each year within the new music landscape, exploring the interaction of contemporary music with other disciplines, such as theatre, installation, and media arts. Other activities include lectures and workshops with visiting artists, ensemble workshops and presentations open to the community, and other sound art and new music-related community events.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Assistant Curator and Production, the Artist Services and Event Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house activities. This is a part-time position based on a 21-hour work week. The typical working hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, the schedule varies in response to presentation activity. Working occasional weekends and evenings is expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and prepare all the box office policies and procedures
Oversee all ticket activities, including but not limited to: ticket sales, ticket exchanges, group sales enquiries, and ticket donation enquiries
Ensure the highest level of customer service is provided to all patrons
Maintain accurate patron data, sales records, and event statistics
Statistics reporting to various stakeholders and funders
Coordinate and oversee all front-of-house activities at events, including box office and signage
Maintain the VNM volunteer database and coordinate volunteers as required
Participate in volunteer recruitment and appreciation activities/events
Assist with artist support and services as needed
Coordinate backstage artist hospitality
Assist with artist logistics as needed (i.e., travel, accommodation, and per diem)
Provide operational and project support to other team members as needed
Coordinate office supply procurement and office cleaners as needed
Support fundraising and marketing efforts of Vancouver New Music, as needed
Provide event management assistance, as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two to three years of experience in a performing arts environment
Excellent communication skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over the telephone, in person, and via email
Proficient in using online ticketing services to host events (e.g., Showpass, Square, Eventbrite, Brown Paper Tickets, The Point of Sale, etc.)
Proficient in using Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Experience with the Apple operating system and hardware
Detail-oriented, reliable
Ability to multitask
Excellent time management skills
Someone who can take initiative and ensure tasks are completed fully
Ability to create efficient systems/procedures and ensure staff compliance
Analytical skills
Flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend work related to events and performances
Work from home one day a week, in the office the other two

REMUNERATION:
