JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Firehall Arts Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Bartender to join our audience services team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service, inspired by theatre, dance, and music. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being part of a team making art happen and is also willing to be cross-trained on other positions (ex. Box Office Attendant, Front of House).

Job Overview:
Reporting to the Bar Manager, Audience Services Manager, and General Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a bartender professional, with strong customer service skills, looking to work at a busy arts facility, helping develop the customer experience at the Firehall Arts Centre.

Please note: Our ideal candidate is willing to be cross-trained in other positions in addition to bartending (ex. Box Office Attendant, Front of House). Please see our job posting for the Box Office Attendant position as well.

Hours of Work:
Hours vary each month, depending on the number of shows. Candidates must be available to work three shifts per show week, with an average of 5-10 shifts per month, most of which will be in the evening.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve beverages and snacks to theatre patrons

  • Set up the bar at the start of a shift and close down the bar at the end of the shift

  • Conduct an inventory before each shift

  • Top up bar stock and communicate to Bar Manager if stock needs replacing

  • Cash out and complete end-of-shift reporting

  • Clean up before and after the shift, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have a passion for theatre and live performance and a genuine interest in the work of the Firehall Arts Centre.   • Experience working in a bar at a theatre/live performance venue is an asset

  • Experience handling cash is required

  • Demonstrates impeccable customer service skills, maintains a positive attitude

  • Must have good communication skills

  • Serving It Right certification is required

  • First Aid Level 1 qualification training is an asset

  • Foodsafe Level 1 certificate is an asset
