Griffin Art Projects (Griffin) is a non-profit art gallery and residency located in North Vancouver devoted to supporting artists in the production of new work through its residency program, and in creating new research on contemporary Canadian and international art, artists, and art collections from around the world in its exhibition program. Griffin is a non-collecting institution that has quickly become a vibrant contributor to the North Vancouver cultural landscape.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: BIPOC Curatorial and Marketing Assistant
Duration: September 18 – March 1, 2025 | 4-day per week position (Thursday – Sunday)
Remuneration: $25/hour

This position is a YCW Building Careers in Heritage Internship for college or university graduates.

Griffin Art Projects seeks applications for the position of BIPOC Curatorial and Marketing Assistant. This position is open to BIPOC graduates.

Reporting to the Director, and assisting the Adjunct & Guest Curator(s), the Curatorial and Marketing Assistant will provide assistance with the development and execution of our ongoing public programs, outreach, and marketing efforts, with a particular focus on bringing BIPOC perspectives to Griffin’s activities, initiatives, and operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with a range of administration tasks such as operational support and registrar duties

  • Support audience development, program research, planning, and delivery

  • Help strengthen relationships with local community groups, particularly Indigenous communities on the North Shore

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recent graduate from a Bachelor or Master’s degree in fine arts, design, Indigenous studies, or related field

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign, or willingness to learn

  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills

  • Ability to work with diverse community groups, including Indigenous communities and youth

  • French language ability considered an asset

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status in Canada

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (valid SIN)

  • Between 16 and 30 years old at the start of employment

  • A college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate)

Note: Priority will be given to graduates who have not previously participated in YCW internship programs and who are unemployed or underemployed.
