JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you passionate about violin and enjoy teaching a variety of ages? Join the City of Surrey’s Culture division and contribute to the innovation and growth of our arts community through your development and instruction of performing art courses and camps.

Clayton Community Arts is hiring Performing Arts Program Instructors to develop and instruct violin lessons for our Fall 2025 season. Our Violin Instructors have the opportunity to teach classes to preschool, children, youth and adult participants throughout the year and to participate in hands-on outreach community activities across Surrey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Submit detailed lesson plans and supply lists for each class, camp, or workshop

  • Set up and clean up for each class

  • Teach private violin lessons

  • Provide a safe and fun environment for all students

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree/diploma in Music, Performance, or a related field

  • Certified RCM Instructor, having completed minimum Level 10 RCM Education

  • A minimum of 2 years previous teaching experience, and a thorough understanding of musical pedagogy

  • A current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C certificate

  • Education and experience in violin instruction and music education

  • Ability to assess age appropriateness of lessons and materials and modify lessons as needed based on students’ abilities

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relational skills with participants and staff

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
