JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator supports the implementation of The Cultch’s marketing, communications, and outreach initiatives. This position is a dynamic blend of marketing, media relations, and community outreach. The Coordinator plays a key role in creating and executing marketing campaigns, developing engaging content, and sustaining meaningful relationships with community partners. Through innovative outreach initiatives, cross-promotions, and collaborative partnerships, this role helps maximize awareness, audience engagement, and community impact. The Coordinator also represents The Cultch at performances and events, strengthening ties with patrons, press, and partners. This position primarily works at our offices on Venables Street in Vancouver. Hybrid or occasional remote work may be available. This is a full-time permanent position. Some evening and weekend work is required to support performances, opening nights, and community events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing, Media & Content Creation

  • Write, edit, and schedule engaging content for advertising, social media platforms, and e-newsletters.

  • Support creation of promotional materials, video content, and photography to document community engagement activities.

  • Coordinate distribution of marketing materials to targeted audiences.

  • Submit show information to online event listings, calendars, and blogs.

  • Support the Patron Development Manager with strategic pricing, patron campaigns, and demand management initiatives.

  • Proof, edit, and align communications (digital, print, media) with The Cultch’s brand and messaging.

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with like-minded organizations and community partners.

  • Develop and implement community engagement plans for upcoming productions.

  • Administer complimentary ticket distribution through The Cultch Connects program.

  • Coordinate traditional Indigenous welcomes by liaising with Elders or Knowledge Keepers.

  • Set up lobby tables, cross-promotional opportunities, and outreach kits for community partners.

  • Serve on The Cultch’s Accessibility Committee to support inclusive programming and outreach.

  • Promote shows to diverse audiences, ensuring accessibility and engagement.

Media & Public Relations

  • Pitch and engage media through email and phone, arranging and facilitating requests.

  • Write and edit press releases and media kits.

  • Coordinate special invitations to opening nights, working with the box office to invite press, donors, funders, sponsors, politicians, artists, and community members.

  • Attend opening nights and events to represent The Cultch and build relationships with press and partners.

  • Gather and organize media reports and outreach results for grants and funding applications.

Administrative & Support

  • Track and report on marketing and outreach initiatives, including audience feedback and media coverage.

  • Maintain community invite lists and marketing connection lists.

  • Collaborate across departments (Patron Development, Partnerships, Box Office, Youth Programs, Operations) to ensure alignment of communications and outreach strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in marketing, outreach, communications, or related fields.

  • Passion for arts, culture, and community engagement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse communities.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

  • Experience with digital marketing, content creation, and social media platforms.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities with attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and collaborative.

  • Familiarity with arts marketing and ticketing systems is an asset (Spectrix, WordPress, Google Ads, etc.).

  • Knowledge of or interest in accessibility, equity, and inclusive engagement practices is an asset.

REMUNERATION:
Salary range: $57K to $60K, commensurate with experience. An extended health and dental plan is available after a 3-month probationary period.
