Since 1985, Theatre Terrific has been pioneering inclusive theatre practice through productions, workshops, and training that engage artists of all abilities. All of our productions and classes are intentionally inclusive. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for the overall management of Theatre Terrific, ensuring strong governance, operational and organizational effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, and working closely with the Artistic Director, this role will build and sustain the systems, structures, and partnerships that support the Theatre’s mandate, vision and mission. The GM will ensure Theatre Terrific’s sustainability by overseeing finances, fundraising, communications, and daily operations, and will serve as both strategist and operator, anchoring the company’s management while helping it grow its audience and presence as one of Canada’s leading disability mandated theatre company. This is a part-time contract role with flexible hours and hybrid work arrangements (Vancouver-based).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration & Operations

  • Lead and manage Theatre Terrific’s operations

  • Oversee daily office management, systems, and HR administration

  • Maintain organizational policies and procedures

  • Support board governance (meetings, reports, compliance)

Financial Management

  • Develop budgets in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Board

  • Prepare financial reports, invoices, and reconciliations

  • Work with the bookkeeper and auditor to ensure sound practices

Fundraising & Development

  • Manage grant applications and reporting to funders

  • Develop donor stewardship strategies and relationships

  • Support fundraising events and campaigns

Human Resources

  • Manage contracts, onboarding, and payroll for staff and contractors

  • Ensure compliance with employment standards and workplace policies

  • Support a respectful, accessible, and inclusive workplace culture

  • Provide HR support and guidance to staff and artists as needed

Support to Artistic Director

  • Assist in operationalizing productions, classes, and workshops

  • Assist in securing venues, rehearsal spaces, and classroom rentals

  • Provide administrative support for production planning and program delivery

Communications & Outreach

  • Coordinate marketing, newsletters, and social media

  • Support community engagement and partnerships

  • Promote Theatre Terrific’s values and vision

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow Theatre Terrific’s audience and presence as one of Canada’s leading disability mandated theatre company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial and organizational management, including staff leadership

  • Proven experience in arts administration, nonprofit management, or related field

  • Proven management experience in operations and finance

  • Strong organizational, financial, and communication skills

  • Grant-writing and fundraising experience

  • Commitment to accessibility, equity, and an inclusive arts sector

$35-37/hour (20 hrs/week) commensurate on experience and organizational budget
