JOB DESCRIPTION:
The City of Delta is looking for dynamic, creative, and energetic Visual Arts Instructors to teach our recreational visual arts programs for all ages and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement quality, instructional, and engaging classes in drawing, painting, mixed media, anime, textiles, clay, collage, and/or photography
Teach weekly programs during weekday mornings, weekday after school/evenings, and weekends
Lead week-long camps running Monday – Friday over the summer
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational background in visual arts either through continued professional development or through completion of accredited programs
Strong teaching background and experience instructing visual arts to a variety of age groups
Knowledge and experience in an array of art disciplines is an asset
Flexible, self-motivated, and able to take initiative with little supervision
Responsible and punctual
Strong customer service skills with excellent classroom management and organizational skills
Willing to work 2–4 hour shifts in Tsawwassen, Ladner, and/or North Delta
Available to work evenings (starting as early as 3 pm) and weekends
Able to commit to two sessions (2 months in duration) of instruction
Able to create lesson plans for a series of sessional lessons
Must be able to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check
