Bard on the Beach is Western Canada’s largest professional Shakespeare festival, with a focus on providing accessible, inclusive, and vibrant theatrical works to the public. The Festival presents Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and special events from June to September in two modern theatre tents in the magnificent waterfront setting of Sen̓ákw/Vanier Park. Bard Education also offers programs throughout the year.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Coordinator for School Programs provides administrative support and coordination for all of Bard Education’s school programs, including classroom workshops, student matinee performances, and Bard’s online teaching resources for teachers and students. They will collaborate with the Bard Education team to strengthen relationships with K–12 teachers across the Lower Mainland and beyond and build partnerships within the arts and education community. During Bard’s summer camp sessions in July and August, this position will support the Education Manager with camp operations and administration. HOURS
30 hours per week from September–June to support school programs
35 hours per week in July and August to support summer camp
RESPONSIBILITIES:
School Programs:
Coordinate Bard Education’s School Programs, including scheduling, registration, and communications with teaching artists and schools.
Support the development of written materials, including program applications, web copy, communications, training and teaching materials, and education resources for school programs.
Track school program feedback and statistics and report to the Director of Education on the impact of school program initiatives.
Evaluate the impact of Bard’s school programs through surveys, webforms, focus groups, and general feedback from participants, teaching artists, and teachers.
Liaise with multiple departments including Box Office, Marketing, Development, Production, and Operations to integrate school programs into the Festival and other Bard programming.
Represent Bard Education at local and regional arts and education community events to develop partnerships with schools.
Summer Camp Support:
Serve as a warm and friendly representative of Bard Education and a point person for families, participants, and teaching artist staff engaged in Bard Summer Camps.
Fulfill general administrative duties, including processing registrations, sending stakeholder communications, and managing stakeholder relationships.
Supervise and support camp participant lunch breaks.
Collaborate with the Production, Operations, and Box Office teams to ensure clear communication and balance the needs of Education programs with Festival operations.
Provide event coordination support for Summer Camp finales at the Festival site.
Coordinate the sourcing, sharing, and storage of Education materials to support Summer Camp facilitators (including curriculum, costumes, and props).
Contribute to the development of curricular activities in collaboration with the Bard Education team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with the public and creating a welcoming environment.
Experience working with youth.
Working knowledge of the BC Curriculum and school system; experience working with schoolteachers is an asset.
Program and event coordination experience is desirable.
Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A strong interest in theatre and education.
A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (Bard can reimburse the cost).
Comfort using PC laptops and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Experience with photography is an asset.
Basic Occupational First Aid training is required (Bard will cover training costs).
