JOB DESCRIPTION:
As an administrative and financial services specialist, the Accounting Generalist is an important part of the finance team. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting, this position provides guidance to Banff Centre staff on financial policies and ensures the smooth running of departmental operations. The ideal candidate is professional, customer service focused, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer month-end procedures including purchase order accruals, GST self-assessment journals, and utilities accruals.
Assist with policy compliance reviews, audits, and communicate issues to the Manager.
Follow up on outstanding transactions and ensure GL coding accuracy.
Run financial reports, code accounts, and ensure accurate month-end closing.
Assist staff with corporate card programs and set up new accounts.
Manage the Shell Fleet program and online fuel card payments.
Maintain filing systems and ensure compliance with record retention policies.
Create new vendors, process expense claims, and payment requests.
Conduct staff training on accounting systems, procedures, and tools.
Support the purchasing manager as needed with purchase orders and staff inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting office environment with AR/AP experience.
High school completion required; college certificate in accounting is an asset.
Strong knowledge of accounting software (Nav, Spend Dynamics) and Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and effective time management.

REMUNERATION:
$44,499.00 to $52,215.80 annually, based on experience and a 35-hour work week. Includes benefits through Alberta Blue Cross, a defined benefit pension plan, professional development, hybrid work schedule, and employee discounts.
