ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
The Fort St. John Arts Council was established in 1967 and is a volunteer-based organization that provides arts and culture programs to support cultural development for North Peace artists and Fort St. John residents. Key activities include:
Building connections and networks with people who are interested in and care about the arts.
Advocating for artists and arts organizations in Fort St. John.
Promoting the arts as a vital contributor to quality of life and community well-being.
Educating the public about the arts, while showcasing and marketing local artists and cultural activities (in and around Fort St. John).
Collaborating with partners on issues concerning arts development and cultural activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director works with the board of directors to manage the office and operations of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Arts Council office.
Regular office hours from 9 am to 3 pm, with some flexibility.
Attendance at select events and meetings during evenings and weekends.
Occasional opportunities for remote work.
Represent the organization and act as an ambassador at public events, advocating for the arts and promoting programs and services.
Oversee organizational operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals.
Coordinate and organize projects and programs.
Assist the Arts Council with promotion, public relations, and outreach.
Manage the website, social media, networking, and advertising.
Foster active connections and collaborations with community groups and artists.
Provide support to member non-profit groups in administrative functions such as class registrations and grant applications.
Secure funding through diverse strategies, including grant writing, fundraising campaigns, and event management.
Solicit and manage donations and sponsorships.
Coordinate efforts to fundraise and develop opportunities to build or acquire a building for an arts and creative hub.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Excellent networking and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to lead fundraising efforts and manage finances to ensure organizational sustainability.
Experience in the non-profit sector or a comparable management role.
A previous connection with the arts is an asset.
A combination of relevant education and professional experience is preferred.

REMUNERATION:
