JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a term position to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
The Media Technician, Media & Production provides administrative and technical support required for the delivery of Banff Centre programs, projects, and events. This role is responsible for coordinating the elements required for successful delivery of Media & Production deliverables in an organized, proactive manner and ensures the operational, logistical, administrative, and technical requirements meet the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent responds to enquiries from staff, external clients, program participants, and guests by providing a high level of customer service delivery and is a critical support person for day-to-day operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling and Administration:
Coordinate production service and equipment requests; prepare quotations and work orders as required
Assist with project administration in Farmers Wife (FW), including booking resources, tracking labour costs, and preparing reports
Enter and maintain data in the equipment rental database and ensure naming conventions are consistent
Monitor department email accounts
Maintain equipment manuals, safety binders, contact lists, price lists, and standard operating procedures
Prepare activity and status reports as requested
Submit work orders for facility repairs
Assist with annual resource planning
Maintain accurate records and filing systems
Compile materials for proposals and reports
Recommend workflow and scheduling improvements
Support capital planning and equipment upgrades
Technical and Production:
Maintain and standardize equipment database and dispatch modules
Maintain stock footage library and archive databases
Perform LTO backups of media assets following procedure
Assist with offloading media and archiving project materials
Research and source pricing for equipment/software purchases
Coordinate annual inventory of MAP equipment
Assist with studio maintenance
Provide technical backup to MAP technicians
Handle duplication services and track related requests
Financial Administration:
Coordinate accounts payable and ensure timely payment of invoices
Create purchase orders, payment requests, claims, and other financial documentation
Deliver and collect financial paperwork as required
Source vendor quotes for purchases
Monitor and track equipment spending
Process and reconcile service and software agreements
Track and reconcile equipment purchases
Other:
Communicate and resolve issues as needed
Occasionally coordinate casual staff
Perform related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
College diploma or equivalent experience in media production or technical coordination
Minimum of 5 years’ experience
Strong coordination and organizational skills
Technical knowledge of media production hardware, software, and setups
Experience using database and scheduling software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively
Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
Strong team player with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Knowledge of AV and media production environments
Special Requirements:
Availability to work a flexible, irregular schedule including weekends
