JOB DESCRIPTION:
Gateway Theatre is launching a new program to address the gap in professional training and opportunities for those looking to grow in creative leadership positions of theatre-making, particularly for those interested in musicals and large-scale works. Positions may include Directors, Choreographers, and Music Directors, with potential for additional roles as the theatre continues to evolve.
The program is designed to give emerging creative leaders a comprehensive experience in the production process. Participants may be involved in design discussions, attend production meetings and auditions, and actively engage in rehearsals and technical preparations. The level of involvement will be guided by the discretion of the lead artists and the participant’s skills.
The Artist will begin their participation upon signing their contract and will be present at rehearsals until the production opening.

Pre-production: Present day until Nov. 6, 2025
Rehearsals begin: Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025
Tech week: Tuesday, Dec. 2 – Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025
Preview: Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025
Opening: Friday, Dec. 12, 2025
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will support the Musical Director in carrying out their vision, which may include:
Observing rehearsals (both band and staging)
Administrative duties in rehearsal (e.g., taking notes)
Acting as an outside ear for the Musical Director, listening for blend and tonality of singers
Attending technical rehearsals to assist with balance of instruments and actors
QUALIFICATIONS:
Adult Non-Equity (CAEA/UBCP) individuals
Exploring creative leadership in theatre
Interest in growing experience working on musicals and large-scale works
