JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Banff Centre is seeking a Program Manager, Theatre Arts, responsible for the advance planning and successful implementation of theatre arts programs. The position requires strong experience in dance administration. The performing arts portfolio encompasses programming in theatre, dance, and opera. A key measure of success is the ability to translate the vision of the director and faculty into an achievable and executable program that aligns with Banff Centre’s facilities, location, and staff resources. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in theatre arts and a solid understanding of the requirements and operational needs related to theatre, dance, and opera.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Director in the conception and design of programs by advising on logistics, scheduling, recruitment, communication, and budget development.

  • Manage day-to-day project management for assigned programs, ensuring delivery aligns with Banff Centre’s policies and design signature.

  • Liaise with other departments and arrange cross-department meetings regarding production schedules, staffing, planning, and event requirements.

  • Develop processes for regular communication and reporting on program milestones, deliverables, and risk mitigation.

  • Work with Program Administration, Participant Services, and Human Resources on participant management, including recruitment, orientation, and compliance with policies.

  • Align resource requests and planning for programs within approved budgets and timelines.

  • Coordinate or participate in program and event review processes to ensure ethical standards and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five years of proven program management experience, preferably within a creative environment.

  • University degree in an arts discipline or related field.

  • Strong background in dance and theatre arts.

  • Experience in building and managing programming budgets.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.

  • Understanding of program marketing, promotion, and production.

  • Ability to apply management principles in an artistic environment.

  • Experience in production or post-secondary institutions is an asset.

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as required.

REMUNERATION:
$68,714 – $102,040 based on experience. This is a full-time, salaried position with twenty vacation days, four personal days, extended health and dental benefits, and participation in an employer-matched pension plan.
